HERB GARDEN
HERB GARDEN

The Herb Garden is where it all began for the 'Gardens at Jimmy’s Farm.'  Caela worked tirelessly to transform the centuries old, derelict cattle yard into an incredibly imaginitive and peaceful garden.  Here you can explore and relax amongst a wonderful world of aromas, herbs and ornamental plants.   You can kick back with a Cream Tea, explore the garden or simply gaze at fields of rare breed animals in this remarkably tranquil setting.

The Herb Garden now has a greater selection of herbs than ever . The focus of the central bed is a Bay surrounded by several varieties of thyme.  Set in the circular they follow their namesake and create the digits of a 'clock.'  Within this bed you'll also find a selection of mints and basils and even a Curry plant. Early in the season the Sweet Violets grace us with their purple spread along with the Dwarf Comfrey that are now extremely well established.  You'll be able to buy most of what you see in our plant nursery, opening Easter 2009!

The other beds in the courtyard are largely ornamental to create height, colour and interest throughout the year.  You will see that lots of the plants and herbs here are echoed around the farm, predominantly in the vegetable garden.  Enjoy the Stipa Gigantea floating in the breeze and take stock of the incredible colour of the Achillea early in the season.

Our Garden Shop, 'For All Seasons'  is situated in the right hand corner and boasts a large selection of beautiful garden gifts and ware.  Sue Sugar has created an incredible haven for those of you who are passionate about gardening or wish to buy presents for those who are!

We use the herbs to make our own soaps, which can be purchased in the Garden shop, situated right beside the herb garden. Some of our crafts also are derived from this garden, such as the newly stocked lavender pillows filled with our sheep’s fleece and lavender flower heads - all made by our local craft friends.

Within the garden we have a small selection of vegetables growing, just for old times sake!  In the beginning, the herb garden housed the first vegetables grown on the farm before expanding down on to the lovely new vegetable garden. Sweet peas and many cottage plants are also growing here so enjoy the sensory deluge!
